Dirty Duet (Found in Oblivion Book 3)

Dirty Duet (Found in Oblivion Book 3) - Cari Quinn, Taryn Elliott I was given a copy of this book by the publisher in return for an unbiased review.

When Cari and Taryn write an Oblivion book, I expect a lot of things. We're already deep into the franchise, so if you've (collectively) been reading the series, you've already gotten a feel for the concert vibes, the overall group dynamics, the angst and dramas, all that kind of stuff. But what I absolutely love is the newness that comes with each installment.

Dirty Duet rose to a new level of freshness.

It wasn't hard to figure out that "the groupie" that had been appearing in [book:Triple Trouble|31579945] would be the heroine in this book, but I was pretty impressed with how she turned out. A complete 180 from what I expected, and definitely in need of someone like West in her life.

I hadn't read the preview, because in this case, I got so busy I read [book:Triple Trouble|31579945] and Dirty Duet back-to-back, and assumed early on that she'd be paired up with Mal. But no... West burst into her life like a wrecking ball and just never stopped.

I'm going to talk about myself for just a minute in order to give a little perspective to my next few comments. I have Synesthesia, which - if you're not familiar with it - is a condition that sometimes substitutes one sense for another. My main affectation is seeing immaterial things. Like time (I can see the next hour to the right of my face, etc), and sound. This book was a trigger for me, and not in a bad way.

The way West and Lauren progressed in their relationship, interacted with each other and the people around them, and just generally lived became whorls of color and brightness to me. I'm not sure why, because Jazz and Grey were also very similar, perhaps it was the swiftness of West's feelings for Lauren. I was so overwhelmed and delighted to have such a lovely reaction to this story.

It's not often that I'm left with a tie-dye afterbuzz when I put away a book, but when I do, I usually pick it back up again later. Maybe that's why I end up reading and re-reading Cari & Taryn's stuff so much. I can't do anything else but give this five stars.
